You see that on the horizon?
It's the fantasy football playoffs! It's only three weeks away! Cool, now let me go check on my team...
Yikes. Everyone is injured. Not cool.
Time to continue this matchup game and see which guys are best suited to fill some spots this week as you fight for playoff position!
QUARTERBACKS
START Jacoby Brissett vs Jacksonville Jaguars
Our very own #CastleBlack made a very good point in his "Weekly Waivers" piece: Brissett has been a Top 12 QB in every game he's started this season. That's the last 5 games! He's finished consistently between 19 and 25 points in each of those 5 games. Last week, his 21.88 points were good enough for QB4. He's no slouch and should be highly considered for the remainder of the season. This week's game is against the Jaguars who have surrendered the 5th most points to opposing QBs this season. This should be easy feasting for Brissett and his weapons.
Honorable Mention: Caleb Williams vs PIT, Sam Darnold vs TEN
SIT Baker Mayfield vs Los Angeles Rams
The Rams offer a terrible matchup, even for someone of Mayfield's standards. The Rams have allowed the 2nd least points to opposing QBs this season. He may be a fringe QB1/QB2 this week but if you're looking for a higher ceiling, you ought to play the matchup game this week.
Honorable Mention: Daniel Jones vs KC, Trevor Lawrence vs ARI
RUNNING BACKS
START Rhamondre Stevenson vs Cincinnati Bengals
'Nuff said. Cincinnati defense lets you do anything. If Stevenson is back to being healthy, he will reclaim at least a portion of his role from TreVeyon Henderson. The Patriots also have a good chance of playing from ahead which will give Stevenson more of a chance to spell Henderson. A decent FLEX option if you're in need.
Honorable Mention: Nick Chubb vs BUF, Devin Neal vs ATL
SIT Quinshon Judkins vs Las Vegas Raiders
Judkins had an off week against the Ravens last week and it won't get any easier for him. The Raiders offer a very tough rushing defense (3rd least points to opposing RBs). The Raiders will force newly-minted starter Shedeur Sanders to win the game with his arm and will limit Judkins on the ground. If you have a better option this week, I would recommend sitting Judkins. Otherwise, limit your expectations to a 5-6 point floor.
Honorable Mention: Ashton Jeanty vs CLE, Tyrone Tracy vs DET
WIDE RECEIVERS
START Rome Odunze vs Pittsburgh Steelers
Odunze has been quite inconsistent but the Bears offense has been too hot to ignore. Odunze gets the benefit of playing the Steelers this week who have allowed the 3rd most points to opposing WRs this season. The Steelers have been pretty good at holding opposing RBs this season to low point totals. Therefore, the pass game will be the one to get things going for the Bears and Odunze should be one of the primary beneficiaries.
Honorable Mention: Rashid Shaheed vs TEN, Calvin Austin vs CHI
SIT Khalil Shakir vs Houston Texans
Josh Allen had 6 total touchdowns last week. Three of them were passing touchdowns. You'd think Shakir would've caught one of them, right? Wrong. He caught one ball for negative yardage last week. This does not bode well for Shakir in the future of this offense for the remainder of the season. The Bills are about to run into a brick wall in Houston and the pass game figures to be locked down. Do not under any circumstances put Shakir in your starting lineup this week.
Honorable Mention: Tez Johnson vs LAR, Ricky Pearsall vs CAR
TIGHT ENDS
START Chig Okonkwo vs Seattle Seahawks
Definitely a lesser-known name and I figure this one to be a hidden gem this week. Calvin Ridley went down for the rest of the season this week. Elic Ayomanor and Chimere Dike should prove to benefit from this, but I see the veteran Okonkwo to see a bump in production, even in the lowly Titans offense. The Titans draw the Seahawks who may look daunting at first, but have found it hard to stop the tight end position (8th most points allowed to opposing TEs this season). I think it's the perfect storm to start Okonkwo and expect a Top 10 finish this week.
Honorable Mention: Colston Loveland vs PIT, Noah Fant vs NE
SIT Dalton Schultz vs Buffalo Bills
Possibly a slug-fest and Schultz does not get a good matchup. The Bill have allowed the LEAST number of points to opposing TEs this season. While Schultz has been a solid start over the past few weeks, this is going to be a very-disappointing week for him. Stay away from Schultz to avoid an obvious dud.
Honorable Mention: Juwan Johnson vs ATL, Mason Taylor vs BAL
