Let's keep rolling with my best and worst plays of the week based on the juicy matchups we have!
QUARTERBACKS
START Tua Tagovailoa vs Washington Commanders
Jared Goff just wrecked the Commanders last week where he finished as QB5 with a 3-touchdown game. Tua may not look like an ideal play but he's shown to have flashes this season finishing in the Top 10 QBs twice including a tough defense in Atlanta a couple weeks ago. Tua takes on a depleted Commanders team who allows the 5th most points to opposing QBs so far this season. With plenty of QB injuries to go around, Tua is a nice streaming option this week.
Honorable Mention: Marcus Mariota vs MIA, Joe Flacco vs PIT
SIT Bo Nix vs Kansas City Chiefs
That was a rough watch last Thursday. It doesn't give me a great feeling going into this weekend where they take on a tough KC defense. The Chiefs are middle of the road against opposing QBs this season (21st most) but Nix has just been too inconsistent this season to warrant constant starting status in fantasy lineups. His highs are very high (3 Top-5 finishes) and his lows are very low (two games below 7 fantasy points). His boom games have all been against the worst defenses in the league (CIN, DAL, NYG). Don't fall for the Nix trap.
Honorable Mention: Baker Mayfield vs BUF, Caleb Williams vs MIN
RUNNING BACKS
START Kenneth Gainwell vs Cincinnati Bengals
Gainwell got more of a snap share than Jaylen Warren this past week. That may be due to the Steelers being in catch-up mode and playing more pass-heavy but going against the worst rush defense in the league gives you more appeal this week. HC Mike Tomlin eluded to the fact that Warren "simply cannot play every down" so there's definitely a chance we see more Gainwell this week than in previous contests. Steelers have a chance to run all over the Bengals this week and Gainwell is a sneaky streamer.
Honorable Mention: Emari Demercado vs SF, Chris Rodriguez vs MIA
SIT Breece Hall vs New England Patriots
This is the biggest DO NOT START of the week. The name may make you believe he's starting RB material. Not against the Patriots. New England has shut down every RB they've faced this season. The Jets are looking to be playing from behind for much of the game as well and will be pass-heavy. Hall will not get as many rush attempts being down so much late in the game. He saw as little as 9 rush attempts in Week 3 when the Jets nearly came back from behind against the Bucs. I can see this playing out the same way. DO NOT put Breece Hall in your lineup.
Honorable Mention: RJ Harvey vs KC, Kimani Vidal vs JAX
WIDE RECEIVERS
START Christian Watson vs New York Giants
All the Packers wide receivers are starting to fall with injuries. Jayden Reed has been down for a while now, Matthew Golden did not play last week with a shoulder injury, and Romeo Doubs went down mid-game with a chest injury. With everybody going down, in comes Christian Watson who was down to start the season. He brings serious FLEX appeal with big-play potential against a Giants defense who allows around 30 points per game to opposing WR corps (7th most). He should garner a healthy amount of targets this week and should be an easy plug-and-play if you are missing guys.
Honorable Mention: Malik Washington vs WAS, Tre Tucker vs DAl
SIT Xavier Worthy vs Denver Broncos
This KC/DEN game just might be a slugfest. The Broncos have been so good at stopping the passing game this season by limiting teams to the 2nd least points to opposing QBs and the LEAST number of points to opposing WRs this season. Worthy has already taken second fiddle to Rashee Rice. He will continue to be an after-thought this week and is not even in FLEX consideration.
Honorable Mention: Courtland Sutton vs KC, Deebo Samuel vs MIA
TIGHT ENDS
START Pat Freiermuth vs Cincinnati Bengals
Someone predicted Freiermuth to go off the first time the Steelers and the Bengals played this season in Week 7... Oh yeah, that was me. Go check the Week 7 article. He's an easy start this week if you see a tough matchup with your normal tight end. If your normal tight end has a poor matchup, you really can see a severe dip in numbers. Go for the big boom potential this week with Freiermuth!
Honorable Mention: Kyle Pitts vs CAR, Colston Loveland vs MIN
SIT Cade Otton vs Buffalo Bills
Otton has started to come alive as he normally does in the middle of the season. This is where, unfortunately, it stop in Week 11. Buffalo is, by far, the best team against opposing TE's this season limiting them to just below 5 points a game. This is not an ideal spot for Otton who has seen steady production over the past 5 games. However, I would seek out other options this week... See above!
Honorable Mention: Sam LaPorta vs PHI, Chig Okonkwo vs HOU
